Books We Recommend Reading This Fall

“What better occupation, really, than to spend the evening at the fireside with a book, with the wind beating on the windows and the lamp burning bright.” - Gustave Flaubert

The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

A historical fiction book set in Nazi occupied France during World War II. It tells the story of two sisters with very different lives and even more different personalities. They unexpectedly find themselves tethered together by their struggle to navigate the horrors of war, love, and loss.

A captivating story, we were so drawn in by Kristin Hannah’s vivid writing and realistic take on the complexities of life and relationships.

The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking

If we could take on the personality of a book, it would be this one. An engaging author, Meik, who runs the Happiness Research Institute in Denmark, shares various rhythms that have worked in improving folks quality of life, and enjoying it more fully as a result. Loaded with sweet illustrations and even recipes and how-tos, this is another read we continually refer back to.

Creativity Inc. by Ed Catmull

As the President of Pixar Inc., Ed Catmull explains how creativity is required for much more than just coming up with ideas for a new movie. It gives us a peek into the success of Pixar and how it was due to the valuing of people and their ideas, no matter their position. Catmull explains that while it might not always be easy, it is crucial for us to listen and consider others in their creative process, and that by doing so, it will empower each individual to reach their fullest potential.
