A Short Travel Guide to Lancaster, PA

Last month we galavanted around Lancaster, PA for a two night stay. It’s always so refreshing getting to explore a new city. This was my first time, and while I had looked for places to check out before we went, we also wandered and discovered some new places while we were there. If you ever find yourself in downtown Lancaster, we highly recommend these spots.

Where we stayed

Our Airbnb was SO dreamy. I just love a beautiful Airbnb. Whenever I’m venturing out to a new place, I like to be pretty picky with where we stay, that way if we don’t feel like exploring much or we’ve done everything we’ve wanted to do around the city, we can still enjoy our time and be “homebodies” wherever we’re lodging.

To be quite honest, this guest suite was a big part of the reason why we chose to stay in PA. It’s located in an old mansion that’s been restored but still showcases its beautiful original elements. I’ve linked their website below; you can book directly through there and look at all of the stunning photo galleries. There are multiple suites in the building to rent, and you really can’t go wrong. Not only is it gorgeously designed and has everything you need, it’s in the perfect location; only a fifteen minute walk from downtown! Couldn’t recommend this place more, we were so happy with it.

Day 1

Coffee: Passenger coffee on king street

We went here both days because it was so delish. My cappuccino was just lovely and they have a great little selection of pastries which were also yummy. The King street location is right in downtown, but they also have another location on Plum St. (which we didn’t get to but it looks just as nice).

Shopping: Central Market

Our first day was spent mostly on King Street and exploring the shops in and around Central Market. Keep in mind that this spot is only open Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it’s worth making it there! It’s conveniently located behind the King St. Passenger shop. There are countless vendors selling all kinds of food you can think of and other goodies like candles and soaps, fresh flowers, and baked goods. We got yummy sandwiches for lunch and couldn’t pass up an Amish soft pretzel!

Ellicott & CO

Walking down the street from Central Market, we stumbled upon this beautifully curated men’s goods store. They “supply heritage inspired goods & timeless artifacts that promote intentional living”, so, totally our vibe.

Dinner: The Belvedere Inn

Just a three minute walk from our Airbnb, we spent our anniversary dinner at the Belvedere Inn. We immediately fell in love with the romantic ambience, and the menu looked so amazing it was hard to choose just one entree. David ended up getting the salmon which was so delicious and I had the honey-orange beet salad with chicken.

Day 2

Breakfast: Rachel’s Creperie

Also a nice walk from where we stayed, this quaint little breakfast spot had us feeling like we were in Stars Hollow. The food was so good; they had sweet and savory crepes. The classic Nutella and berry crepe was delicious.

Shopping:

Building Character

Afterwards, it was time to explore and do some local shopping! Building Character is a shop we discovered the day before, but came back to it the next day to spend more time there since it’s so huge! There are multiple booths to shop from supplying things like wooden kitchen tools, vintage clothing, books, small gifts, home goods, and more! Definitely make sure you give yourself enough time peruse all of the unique items this store has to offer.

Telltale Dress and Redeux vintage

These two local shops were my favorite. Beautiful boutiques with both vintage and new pieces, and small accessories. It took everything in me to not purchase almost everything in the store. I will for sure make an effort to go back if I ever find myself in Lancaster again.

That’s all for now, friends. Thanks so much for following along and I hope this guide is a helpful resource for you!
